Are ROBOTS Replacing HUMAN Jobs?

Robotics & automation are revolutionizing the manner in which humans work and live. Robotics refers to the utilization of machines, termed ‘robots’, for doing certain tasks. Automation refers to the process of using technologies to accomplish certain tasks automatically without human intervention.

Today, robots are used in many branches of activity. In factories, robots are used for the manufacturing of cars and phones. In hospitals, robots are used during surgeries to aid the surgeons. Farmers plant crops using robots, and robots are also widely used at home for cleaning floors and doing chores.

With the rise of automation, many jobs are now being carried out by machines rather than human beings. In fact, this increases the savings of both time and money for the company, although it also causes concern among some employees who may lose their jobs as a result. New jobs are also being formed, for example, maintaining and programming robots.

Robots are very useful for dangerous and difficult tasks such as space exploration, underwater work, and clean-up missions in contaminated sites. They are not prone to getting tired and bored, so they don’t stop functioning even after 24 hours.

Although robots are intelligent, they are not able to replace the creativity and decisions made by human beings. The best possible future for human society could be where robots do the tough work, and human beings, using their creativity, solve problems.

Robotics and automation are not about taking over; however, they are about making life easier and safer for everyone.
